FERAL CATS
Winter Shelters
Neighborhood Cats has simple, written instructions with graphics on how
to make an excellent, lightweight feral cat winter shelter out of hard styrofoam
(typically good for three to four cats).
Neighborhood Cats has a store which, for a total cost of $20 per shelter,
will order and cut the styrofoam. You will then have to pick up the materials
(which will fit in a large garbage bag), glue the pieces together and, if
you'd like, add a vinyl floor, contact paper on the interior walls, and paint
the exterior (an additional cost of $5 to $10 per shelter). It's all in the
instructions. To order your pre-cut styrofoam, send a note and a check (for
$20 for each shelter you want) to:

BRENDA
Brenda is a petite, endearing grey and white lady who was
first rescued more than a year ago. She has spent this time in an excellent
home with a true animal lover. Unfortunately, Brenda is tremendously fearful
of other animals, and the other cats in the home picked on her endlessly.
(She never even gave the dog a chance!) She ended up confiining herself to
a tiny hiding place and being miserable. Her person was right to try a new
environment, because Brenda is blossoming at BARC. She seems happier by the
day and rolls around to get people to pet her. She would be an excellent companion
for someone with a quiet household. She absolutely must be an only pet. We
estimate that she is 8 to 10 years old. She is missing most of her teeth,
but that's fairly common in mature cats who have had difficult lives. She
has no trouble eatiing wet or dry food. Please consider giving this lovely
lady a new home.

MILES
Miles came to BARC from the city shelter, where he was brought as a stray. His back leg is deformed due to a birth defect. However he doesn't seem to notice his disability, and still walks, jumps and plays like a regular dog. Miles is a happy, good-natured dog who likes to give kisses.
Breed: Pit Bull Mix
Color: White & Brown
Age: 1 year
Weight: 51.9 lbs.
