Baldwin (formerly Toby)
I wanted to write in to tell you how gorgeous Baldwin (or as you knew him, Toby) is doing in his new home! When I first adopted him, he was very shy and he wouldn't let anyone touch him, and spent most of his time in his crate. But very quickly he started to adjust to his new life and now, 4 months later, he is like an old member of the family!

Pippin
It was about one year ago when we adopted Pippin. At the time we were thanked by a BARC employee for adopting a 'problem cat'. "Umm I'm sorry, what was that last thing you just said?" At that time, we didn't quite know what that meant. One year on now, we can resolutely say that Pippin has completely won our hearts, our love and has firmly earned a seat at our family 'table' along with Mama (our 2008 Barc adoptee).
Magic (formerly Hope)
Dear Barc-- This is a story about a cat named Magic (aka. HOPE), who transformed me from an indifferent, cat tolerator to a full-blown cat daddy of two. I've loved animals my whole life but never had a pet and somehow never imagined the possibility as an adult until November, 2006.

Tilda (formerly Honey)
We adopted Tilda (aka Honey) in July 2009 and thought we'd write her "happy tail" on her one-year anniversary. Tilda has brought us such happiness! She gets to come to work with us every day, and enjoys the constant attention she gets from our friends and neighbors.

Zooey (formerly Eller)
In what could only be described as fate, I first saw and fell in love with Zooey, then Eller, at the ACC. As soon as they brought her out of her crate, I knew she was the puppy for me. In the midst of our first meet, an employee informed me that she had already been adopted and that her cage was mis-marked.

Lola
We adopted Lola in 02/10 from BARC. It was a big decision to get a dog, compounded by living and working in the city. Every day we are with Lola, we know we made the right choice. We were able to give her a home and she brightened our lives. She is great with dogs, cats, kids--basically anything with a pulse she wants to befriend.

Jodi (formerly Citrus) and Yuri III (formerly Tiger)
We adopted Citrus, now Jodi, and Tiger, now Yuri III, three weeks ago. They've adapted already to living with us and with each other. They chase each other up and down the stairs in our duplex, and they wrestle all the time.

Barney (formerly Baby Powder)
Hi BARC! I just wanted to let you know that Barney, formerly known as Baby Powder is doing great. I am so happy I found him. He was a stray and now has a loving home. He was a little nervous at first with other people but he's doing much better now. Barney loves to go for walks, cuddle, and give kisses.
Cano
I adopted Cano (Turkish for "darling") from BARC and I used to live 4 blocks away from the shelter. Whenever we went out, she was dragging me back to the shelter! I didn't understand it at first, but when we went back to see Dr. Felton, I saw how happy Cano was.

Stilt and Little Cat (formerly Serena)
A few years ago I went to BARC to adopt a cat, Stilt. I had him all picked out and was on my way out the door when a little ball of fur trying to hide underneath a litter box caught my eye. It was a little kitten named Serena that had been found on the street.

About BARC
Happy Tails
Lola (formerly known as IVORY) has quickly become my best friend. I adopted her in July of 2004 when she was 2 and she has been a blast ever since! She loves to play in Prospect Park and she has developed a large group of friends among the other neighborhood dogs.
