Happy Tails
Lola (formerly Mama Debbie)
To the Great Folks at BARC-- We wanted to send a Happy Tail about our sweet and wonderful dog, Lola Prefontaine ("Lola"), who was known as MAMA DEBBIE at BARC. Lola was a stray found somewhere in Brooklyn and brought to BARC.. When we met her in August, she was very thin, and probably had recently given birth. Despite her trying circumstances, she wagged her tail, gave us a kiss on the hand and was eager to meet us. Thanks to the great people at BARC and Dr. Felton, Lola started putting on some weight and got healthier. After taking her on a walk and spending time with her, we adopted Lola. The first picture was taken the day after we adopted her. She had a skin condition then, but it has cleared up nicely.
Lola has adjusted so well to her new home. She loves playing with, chewing on, and disemboweling her toys, and somehow knows to leave our shoes, furniture, and things alone. She especially LOVES to socialize and greet neighbors and dogs when we take her for walks and to the dog park. At the dog park, Lola likes to run FAST, just like Prefontaine, and is happiest when being chased (typical girl). Because of her sweet personality, we have met lots of nice dog owners and dogs who live in our building and have met neighbors who now know Lola by name and some even expect kisses from her. Lately, Lola has taken to cuddling with us for naps, and although she doesn't bark much, she likes to let us know when she needs more belly rubbing with a quick "wolf!". We started taking Lola and ourselves for dog training classes and she has been a fast learner. She has learned her name, and how to walk well on her leash and knows a few commands. Lola has brought a lot of happiness to our lives, and we feel lucky to have her. Thank you BARC for taking good care of our girl and introducing her to us!

About BARC
Happy Tails
I adopted Pepper from BARC in November 2007 when she was just 2 months old and about 8-9 lbs. These were taken when she was 6 months old. She has to be close to 50 lbs now. We love her SO much.
