daisy |
![]() |
Daisy is a cute, fashionable kitty with markings that make her look as if she has bangs. She likes to run and play with toys, and if you sit next to her, she'll hop onto your lap. Daisy has had a rough life-she lost her first home when her owners moved out and left her behind; then, she lost her second home due to a fire. When she first came to BARC, she had a feisty streak, but she's blossomed into a loving, playful girl who's ready for another chance. |

Cagney |
![]() |
Cagney, a handsome male, lives up to his tough-guy name. He can be pretty feisty. We are hoping he was carrying on like that to attract girls and will calm down now that he has been neutered. We think he was born in 2005. |
|
pluto |
![]() |
Pluto came to BARC as a stray. He is tentative around people and needs a patient person to win his confidence. |
|
Oscarella |
![]() |
Oscarella came to BARC as a stray. She's not happy to be in a shelter and has moments of aggression. She would do best with an experienced cat person willing to give her some space. She may also do well in a home with other cats with whom she may feel more comfortable. |
|
Walla |
![]() |
Walla has long been living on local rooftops, where she was being fed quite generously until one of the owners started complaining about her presence. She seems to be quite calm by nature, but she is not used to being handled by people. She probably could become a good companion to a patient person in a quiet household. We encourage visitors who have experience with reluctant cats to pet her gently. We think she she was born in 2004. |

Mookie |
![]() |
Mookie is a luscious long-haired orange female who was found on the street. She is beautiful, but there is a catch. She seems to think that only the little people use litterboxes. She will need an owner with a special tolerance for this problem. We believe that she was born in 2005. |

slate |
![]() |
Slate had been hanging out in a BARC volunteer's yard for a while. He is a handsome black male who is a bit shy with people. He will allow himself to be touched but he is not used to being handled or to living with people. Cats like him often do well in homes with other cats and with owners who are willing to work at striking the right balance between working with them and letting them come around at their own pace. He has tested positive for feline AIDS, a condition that is not as serious in cats as it can be in people. He does not need any special diet or medication and is not contagious to people or dogs. He is potentially contagious to other cats, so any other cats in the home must also be positive. There is a good chance that he can live a full lifetime in reasonably good health. |

sharkey- |
![]() |
Sharkey-Poo was in very bad shape when we took him off the street. He has recovered from his physical ailments and takes great interest in his surroundings. He likes toys and is mesmerized by flies. He exudes intelligence and has complex relationships with the people he trusts. But that is a chosen, patient few--and he can lash out if he feels uneasy. Until he mellows, he is to be handled by staff only. He is a fascinating, rewarding cat who needs to bond with a true cat person who understands what is involved in working with a highly intelligent feral cat. We think he was born in 2005. |

valencia |
![]() |
Want to have a difficult, tempestous relationship without all the psychotherapy and damage to your self-esteem? Consider Valencia. His last relationship ended when he was returned to the shelter because of a tendency to attack his person, who also said he can be loyal, affectionate and totally charming. It's just that he can be possessive and domineering—and tends to vent. And yet, he thrives on attention and is genuinely affectionate. He might do best in a home with plenty of toys, and possibly another cat who wouldn't be intimidated by him—so he would have some outlet for his predatory energy. His rough-edged charm is not for everyone, but with careful matchmaking, it could work for the right person. He is not suitable for a home with young children. We think he was born in 1999. |

cindy |
![]() |
Cindy, and her sister, Kali, are fearful of people and need some help to adjust to new homes after previously being neglected. Cindy and Kali are deeply attached to each other and it is unlikely that we would be willing to separate them. They would do best with an experienced cat owner. We believe she and Kali were born in 2000. |

kali |
![]() |
Kali is a pretty pastel calico whose owner neglected her and her sister, Cindy. She is fearful of people and need a patient and experienced cat owner to help her adjust. Cindy and Kali are extremely attached to each other and seem to need each other to feel safe. It is unlikely that we would consider separating them. |

kaia |
![]() |
Kaia wasn't too happy when she arrived at BARC and required some caution when handling & caring for her. She's warmed up to the situation now and would make a great feline companion. She's big cat with a distinctive white diamond on her chest.

We usually have a high turnover of kittens. Please
visit the shelter during adoption hours to see which kittens are available
at this time. Better yet, consider adopting where the need is greater...
