ruby

Please contact Joan at joansdogs@aol.com for an adoption application.

Ruby, 10+ senior female spayed terrier mix, 14 pounds, up to date on all shots. She takes rimadyl for a bad knee in her back right leg. I rescued her from the Brooklyn ACC in February 2010 and she has lived in the same foster home through my rescue Senior Pets NYC. But although many people have met her, she has not found a permanent home.

Ruby lives with a puggle and they are fine together. She is good with cats as well. She goes to the dog run. She is a pretty quiet dog, does not really bark much at all. She is housetrained but may have a few accidents in a new environment until she gets settled. Ruby is not crated, she is loose in the apartment and does not destroy anything. She really is a fairly quiet dog, likes her walks but not very active indoors. Ruby would be ok with older kids who can be gentle with her. She likes to give kisses too! She needs a patient person who can allow her time to adjust to a new home. 7/10

Kittens for Adoption

For more information, contact Kat at: Katdudina@gmail.com

We have three kittens for adoption - two black females with white chest and one gray male. The females are 6 weeks and the male is almost 8 weeks old.

All have been socialized and dewormed and will be spayed / neutered and vaccinated prior to adoption. They have been raised in home environment and are very friendly and litter box trained.
We prefer to adopt out the male with one of the females, who is his best friend.
We are looking for a permanent home. Please be open for a home visit - we just want to make sure they will be well taken care of. Feel free to ask questions. 07/10

sadie

If you are interested in adopting Sadie, please contact Heather at hignall@hotmail.com

Meet Sadie! Sadie is a 2-year-old female Labrador/Terrier mix. We are fostering her after saving her from death row at the A C & C shelter. She is a sweet, loving, affectionate dog with a good temperament who adores people. We love Sadie, but our dominant male dog prefers to be the only pet in our home, so we are looking for a forever home for this special girl. From what we've seen in our short time with her, she is very good with children (she spends most weekends with a 6-year-old).

Sadie is about 50 pounds and her coat is dark brown. She's been checked by a vet and is in great health—up to date on all her shots and spayed. She is in perfect health and is housebroken. She is an intelligent dog and a very fast learner. After less than two weeks in our home, she began responding to her new name, and she knows basic commands like sit and stay. Sadie is allowed to roam free in our basement when we are not home, and she is extremely well-behaved. She does not chew or destroy anything. We think she probably sleeps the whole time!

Sadie would make a wonderful family pet—if our male dog was ok with it, we would have loved to keep her for ourselves! We can’t say enough about how lovable she is. If you are interested in meeting Sadie and possibly providing her with a forever home, please contact Mike or Heather. We'd be happy to bring her to your home for a meet-and-greet. Serious inquiries only please. 4/10

Nemo

If you are interested in adopting Nemo, please contact Sara at saraepstein@gmail.com

Nemo is a 7-year old, short-haired (doesn’t shed much at all) male tuxedo cat. We’ve had him since kitten-hood He is neutered, completely healthy, and up-to-date on his shots. He is a dry-food-eating, active indoor-outdoor fellow, and quite independent for the most part, though very happy to have an evening cuddle on the couch or curl up at the foot of the bed at night.

We are very sad to be looking for a new home for him, but we have a young son who’s increased noise-making, mobility, and interest in Nemo are all beginning to wear thin on our poor cat.

Nemo definitely needs to be king of his domain and live in a home without small children or other pets. He would be most happy in a home with access to a safe outdoor space. 2/10

kelly

If you are interested in adopting Kelly, please contact Emily at emily@delicatetomboy.com

Meet Kelly!
Kelly is a 2 year old, 59 lb female pittie. She was found as a stray, abandoned in Queens. She was lactating, meaning she very recently had puppies. Her puppies were not with her... meaning someone used her to breed, took her puppies and dumped her on the streets. She was brought to Animal Care & Control where she waited only a few days before we fell in love with her and took her home! She is now recovering from her tough past in her loving foster home. She has some scabs on her body and is in desperate need of a bath at the moment, but she is relaxing and beginning to enjoy life! She is completely house trained and is a very sweet girl who really needs some TLC. 1/10

moonshine

If you are interested in adopting Moonshine, please contact Veronica at vtorres.photo@gmail.com

Moonshine is a healthy, affectionate, female cat that was found living in an abandoned lot. I brought her in when the weather started to turn and she's adjusted really well to her new space. She's been to the vet and is up-to-date with her vaccines and tested negative for feline Leukemia and HIV, but has not yet been spayed. She weighs about 6-1/2 pounds and is pretty lean and small. The vet thinks she's about two years old and believes she's probably been out on the streets for a while since she initially didn't know what her kitty litter was for. She's got the kitty litter down now though, and she hasn't had any accidents in the house!

Moonshine is smart, curious, playful and loves people (not quite sure how she is with other cats). She doesn't run away when guests come, but she'll probably be most content hanging out on her own than on someone's lap. She's still a street cat at heart and for the most part will do her own thing, but she'll come over and nuzzle you to let you know when she wants lovin' (which is pretty frequent). She also really loves the Ronettes and the sound of people singing!

At this point in my life I can't keep her, but she's going to make a great companion for someone. Please give Moonshine a shot at having a forever home! A modest adoption fee will be required. 1/10

Artemis

If you are interested in Artemis, please contact Lourdes at lav2108@columbia.edu

Artemis is a tabby/calico mix with beautiful stripes and an orange sheen.  She is tiny at 1 year old and only about seven pounds.  I have only had her for a few months after finding her in my apartment vestibule.  I have not seen such a playful and loving cat.  She curls up with me every night and always helps me do chores around the house.  I named her Artemis because she is a great huntress and got rid of our mice when our apartment had a mouse problem.  She can catch a fly with one swipe of the paw.  Artemis is very curious and loves to climb ladders or jump to high places where she can observe everyone down below.

Currently, she lives with another cat and they like to play, but she can become territorial at times.  He is much bigger than she is, but she makes up for it in speed.  Artemis is very lively and I can often hear her running around the house chasing imaginary prey or getting into a cute mess in the middle of the night.  Without a playmate or human around most of the time, she might get lonely.  Sometimes when I have my bedroom door closed, I can hear her sweet meow on the other side.

She has been spayed and has gotten shots, but has some digestive issues.   She needs to be fed a grain-free canned food or her stomach will become upset and she will get diarrhea. Besides that Artemis is a very healthy girl

Although I love her, it is time for her to move on to a family that can keep her long term. She deserves a home that can give her a lot of love and playtime.  As long as she is fed properly, she would be the best cat for a family or someone living on their own.         1/10
