Contributions “in Honor of” commemorate living friends, both human and non-human. BARC Shelter gratefully acknowledges these generous donations made in honor of family, friends, pets and homeless animals.
How do I make a tribute?
For a donation of $50 or more you can make a tribute in memory/in honor of your loved one by:
- Calling us during office hours, (718) 486-7489 and we will take your dedication and payment information.
- Mail a check with your donation and include a note containing your dedication. Please make the check payable to “BARC Shelter” and mail to 253 Wythe Avenue, Brooklyn, NY 11211
- Donate – After you receive your email receipt forward that to us at .(JavaScript must be enabled to view this email address) with your dedication and, if you’d like, any small photo you wish to include.
Your tribute will be displayed for one year.

In Memory Of
Cat and Heidi
Dear BARC: I wanted to thank you so much for and pay tribute to my cats Cat and Heidi, who sadly died last February and March. I got both Cat (formerly Sgt. Bilko) and Heidi (formerly Limestone) from BARC a year apart in 2003 and 2004, but it didn't take long for them to become inseparable. They were the most amazing cats. Cat slept on my head every night and loved running water to the point that he would jump into the shower with me sometimes. Heidi, who from the getgo was in love with Cat (the feeling was mutual, I am sure, but he was the more cool and aloof of the two), had the odd ability to take the form of any number of different animals depending on the perspective/pose (from shark to turtle to cow to many others). Thank you again for these wonderful cats (and for my amazing new one, Nathaniel) and for all that you do to support these wonderful animals and help find them homes.
