Miles
I just wanted to let everyone know that Miles is doing well and thriving. I adopted Miles from BARC in October, '07. We stop by occasionally to visit since we are still nearby in Brooklyn, but I wanted to post an update,so that other people that knew him from his time there would know that he is happy and healthy.

Tess (formerly Taz)
I have always believed that things happen for a reason and we believe Tess (formerly Taz) was meant for us. My daughter Leona had been begging me for a dog for two years. We looked everywhere, but couldn't find the small dog that my daughter wanted.

Lucy (formerly Vanilla Bean)
From the moment we walked Lucy (formerly Vanilla Bean), we fell in love, and knew that she was the perfect dog for us! She is incredibly gentle and mild tempered. She was even trained to 'sit', 'lay down' and give her 'paw'. Each day she amazes us with her intelligence and charm.

Nora (formerly Jocasta)
Thanks BARC for introducing us to our new cat, Nora (aka Jocasta at BARC). She got off to a bumpy, scared start in her new home, but quickly acclimated to her surroundings and to her new brother and sister (former strays themselves).

Liefje, Tycho & Spooky
Hi BARC Shelter, We adopted our dog Liefje from you many years ago, in 1998, when we were first married, and the shelter was still on North 9th St. In 1999, we found Tycho as a stray in McCarren Park and you guys helped us get him cleaned up and back to health. In 2002, we added Spooky the greyhound, from a rescue in MA.

Seamus & Sprocket
I adopted two dogs from BARC back in January 2005. They are from two different litters surrendered to the shelter, and both are some sort of poodle-mix. Anyway, they are awesome dogs and I love them more than anything. So, I wanted to send you an update on the fellers and express my gratitude.

Shea (formerly Emily)
Hi BARC--Just wanted to let you know that Shea (formerly known as Emily) is doing great! My boyfriend and I came to BARC a little over 2 months ago and Shea stole our hearts. She had been adopted by someone else who unfortunately couldn't keep her and the day that she was brought back we found her.
From Pam and David
Bessie (formerly Swat)
Dear BARC - We wanted to thank you for connecting us with a wonderful cat. We adopted Bessie (aka Swat) about 10 months ago. She was a little shy and defensive at first, but she has since become a loving, affectionate pet.
From Maggie and David
Lola (formerly Praline)
Dear BARC--This happy tail has been a long time coming. Lola, formerly known as Praline, was a semi feral cat who had been in the shelter since August of 2007. I adopted her in late December of 2007, not long after I lost one of my two cats to FIV. She spent some time cowering in the bathroom and would come and lick wet food off of my hands, but was quite skittish, running away from me if I came anywhere near.

Shuba (formerly Candy Cane)
Hello BARC! It's been 3 months since we've adopted our little girl Shuba (was Candy Cane). She is the love of our life and an absolute sweetheart! Our other cat, her big brother Chin, loves her and they sleep and play together all the time.

About BARC
Happy Tails
We wasted too, too many hours searching the internet for the perfect purebred. Then, in May of 2007, we finally came to our senses and decided to check out the dogs available for adoption at BARC.
